Diets, False Prophets and Crutches
Am I the only one in the whole wide world that doesn't require a word from the "higher ups" to make a change in my life. It seems almost pathalogical the way people need someone to tell them things about themselves that should really be glaring obvious. Some of my anti-favorites are "Dr" Phil, Oprah, Dr. Atkins, "President" Dubya, etc. No one in my part of the country seems open to anything unless it comes from someone that Fox News has told them is safe to listen to. I overheard someone say that they wouldn't go see Farenheight 911 because they didn't want to take the chance that something they heard would be a lie....oh, okay then....so you listened to the State of the Union Address with what....earplugs.....WWE wrestling on the splitscreen.....Rush Limbaugh in the background? For God's sake people, how's about having an informed opinion of your own....you know, do some research....read a little....may even, God forbid, check out some international press releases from countries where journalism is still a respected profession....and don't even get me started on self help and diets. Still there are always those who are shocked when something they should have seen coming a mile away "suddenly" pays them a visit. Not that I'm perfect by any means....but there is the title of this blog to take into consideration.
Here is a man who's figured it out.
Words of wisdom all around, but no one ever seems to listen. They're talking about their plans on paper, building up from the pavement. There are shadows from the scrapers on the pavement, it's enough to make me sigh, but that don't seem like it would make it feel better. The words are still around but the words are only sounds and no one ever seems to listen. Instead they'll say well how could we have known? I'll tell them it's not so hard to tell...if you keep adding stones soon the water will be lost in the well. (Traffic in the Sky)
